Amenities
Pool and Spa
“For me, the major benefits are that swimming works every part of your body. It’s not like jogging – you can’t injure yourself in the water.” (91-year-old swimmer, Sondra R.)
Monte Vista Grove believes that swimming can be both great exercise and meditative. The pool is a popular location on campus for water aerobics classes, lap swimming, and playing with grandchildren. The adjacent spa is soothing for arthritis, stiff joints, and sore muscles.
Wellness Center
“Wellness is the complete integration of body, mind, and spirit – the realization that everything we do, think, feel, and believe has an effect on our state of well-being.” – Greg Anderson
Monte Vista Grove believes that exercise is essential to good health and aging in place. The Wellness Center has both indoor and outdoor space to promote physical and mental wellness. In addition to exercise equipment designed for older adults, there are group exercise classes, space for physical and occupational therapy, and massage therapy. Residents, staff, and trustees enjoy this space at no additional charge.
The Gamble Room
Library
" That perfect tranquility of life, which is nowhere to be found but in retreat, a faithful friend and a good library."
Aphra Behn
Monte Vista Grove believes in continuous learning. The Gamble Room library is home to many books of all kinds and also provides a common resident space for reading and small group gatherings.
Transportation
“Transportation is the center of the world! It is the glue of our daily lives.” (Robin Chase)
Monte Vista Grove believes that access to healthcare and life enrichment opportunities are a key part of aging in place. To support this, we have several options for transportation assistance. A minivan can be used for trips to doctor’s appointments, and other personal needs; a wheelchair van is available for those in our higher levels of care; and a 10-passenger van is available for trips to museums and other group activities.
Life Enrichment Program
“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.” (Henry Ford)
Monte Vista Grove believes in lifelong learning. Our Life Enrichment program seeks to bring programs, events and excursions to meet the needs and interests of residents in independent living, as well as those in the assisted living levels of care. Residents provide regular input as to what things they would like to do and learn. Pasadena is a city rich with cultural opportunities, great restaurants and a wide variety of events which are all incorporated into our program.
Dining Services
“People who love to eat are always the best people.” (Julia Child)
Monte Vista Grove believes in resident choice. The Rendezvous Dining Room features both indoor and outdoor, all-day dining options with table service. There are daily menu options as well as an alternative menu with additional items that are always available. There are a variety of seating options whether you wish to dine alone or with a friend, or as a group. The menu includes fresh, healthy options, and most diets can be accommodated. There is no assigned seating, so residents are free to sit where they like.
Art Studio
“Creativity is intelligence having fun” (Albert Einstein)
Monte Vista Grove believes that creativity is good for the mind and spirit. Managed by the Residents Association, the Art Studio is a special place where a variety of creativity is learned and expressed. There are classes, space to do your own project, arts and crafts supplies, and even a weaving loom. Resident art is often used to decorate our public spaces.
